We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced Business Development (BD) Lead to support and expand our engagements with the Program Executive Office (PEO) Aviation. This role will focus on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and the integration of advanced ordnance capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DoD acquisition processes, PEO Aviation programs, and emerging technologies in unmanned aerial systems and kinetic payloads.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Lead business development efforts related to PEO Aviation, with a focus on unmanned aircraft and associated munitions
- Develop and execute strategic plans to identify and capture new business opportunities within the DoD and defense industry ecosystem
- Engage with key stakeholders, including government customers, industry partners, and research institutions, to shape requirements and influence procurement strategies
- Provide subject matter expertise on UAS capabilities, lethal payloads, and emerging threats to guide internal teams and customer discussions
- Track and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements relevant to UAS and ordnance integration
- Lead and support proposal development, white papers, and responses to government solicitations.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and government briefings to enhance visibility and market positioning
We're looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, aerospace, business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in business development, program management, or technical leadership within the defense sector
- Extensive knowledge of PEO Aviation programs, acquisition strategies, and contracting mechanisms
- Expertise in unmanned aircraft systems, weaponized payloads, and related technologies.
- Proven track record of successfully capturing and executing DoD contracts
- Strong network within the Army aviation and UAS community
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Familiarity with Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) programs, Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements, and other rapid acquisition pathways
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Nice to have:
- Prior military or government experience supporting PEO Aviation or related DoD organizations
- Hands-on experience with UAS development, testing, or deployment
Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.
Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
Please reference the job posting’s subtitle for where this position will be located. For pay transparency purposes, the base salary range for this full-time position in the location listed is: $150,000 USD to $200,000 USD annually.
