About Us: Artera is an AI startup that develops medical artificial intelligence tests to personalize therapy for cancer patients. Artera is on a mission to personalize medical decisions for patients and physicians on a global scale.
Compute Infrastructure is at the core of Artera’s product: using AI to interpret gigapixel scale images to make predictions about cancer therapy as well as rapidly develop new AI models for deployments in different countries.
As a Software Engineer at Artera, you will work with a team of Platform Engineers who develop tools and services to improve developer experience, security and productivity by providing self-service capabilities with automated infrastructure operations. This enables our Clinical Development Team, Customer Success Team, Machine Learning Engineers, Biostatisticians, and Product Teams to support the personalization of cancer therapy.

- In this role, you will closely collaborate with AI scientists and software developers. You will design, build, and maintain compute infrastructure (AWS Kubernetes, AWS ECS, Lambda and EC2 instances) that powers everything Artera does at scale
- Set Compute Infrastructure Engineering vision and drive both independent and collaborative software development projects end-to-end
- Work closely with stakeholders to define and refine the platform’s architecture, ensuring scalability, observability, reliability, and performance.
- Build out core infrastructure, tooling and software development process.
- Work closely with machine learning engineers to optimize their training and inference workflows keeping efficiency and cost in mind
- Contribute to a range of platform engineering projects, from one-off solutions to long-term systems.
- Contribute to Cloud Infrastructure security tools and services.
Experience Requirements:
- Demonstrated integrity and consideration for appropriate data governance when working with sensitive confidential data
- Prior experience managing multi region AWS Kubernetes and AWS ECS infrastructure at scale with security mindset.
- Prior experience upgrading Kubernetes clusters and ECS in production environments.
- Experience with some of AWS Storage services: S3/EFX/FSx.
- You have a track record of building infrastructure automation solutions using Infrastructure-As-Code.
- You have some experience with CI/CD.
- You have experience building services and tools using Python with software engineering mindset.
Success Criteria:
- You are a self-starter; You proactively identify areas of improvement and implement enhancements without being asked and take ownership.
- You have an interest in building systems that have solid monitoring and observability capabilities.
- You work well in a team environment and value collaboration.
- Remain adaptable and prepared for changing circumstances.
- Strive for continuous learning and self-improvement.
- You are an excellent communicator.

Note on Interview Integrity:
We’ve observed an increasing trend—common across the industry—of candidates misrepresenting themselves during the hiring process. This includes individuals who have embellished their resumes or, in more serious cases, assumed entirely fraudulent identities.
To help us ensure a fair and authentic interview experience, we kindly ask all candidates to disable virtual backgrounds during video interviews. This simple step assists us in verifying identity and maintaining the integrity of our process.
