As an Engineering Manager on our BI Tooling & Platform team , you will lead high performing engineers to build out a robust metrics platform, own the Attentive Attribution model, and manage tools used across the BI Org. You’ll help build and shape the backbone for analytics needs across the organization. You’ll partner with Analysts & BI Engineers, as well as other domain teams to help define and shape the data for our organization.
What you'll accomplish
- Define and drive the technical vision for the BI Tooling & Platform team, ensuring alignment with company objectives and delivering high impact solutions.
- Understand the technology in your domain identifying opportunities to improve foundational systems and setting the standard for excellence.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects, delivering high-quality results on time while balancing competing demands effectively.
- Design, implement, and enhance systems that power our external metrics, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and efficient.
- Elevate code quality through rigorous code reviews, comprehensive testing, and promoting best practices across the team.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical debt, safeguarding the long-term maintainability and scalability of our codebase.
Your expertise
- Experience with APIs, Java, GraphQL
- Familiarity with AWS services and cloud infrastructure
- 5+ years of industry experience in data engineering/software development, with a proven track record of solving complex challenges and delivering impactful solutions
- Experience managing and coaching 3+ direct reports for growth and success in a fast paced environment
- Proven expertise in coaching and mentoring, inspiring teams to excel and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence
- Track record of designing and maintaining robust, high-uptime systems that consistently exceed expectations for reliability and performance

- 8,000 brands powered by Attentive sent over 2.2 billion text messages over Cyber Week 2023 (Black Friday/Cyber Monday) representing a growth of 31% from 2022
- We sent 32 billion SMS messages in 2023, up 32% YoY. That’s an average of 87 million per day
- Our production cluster contains over 18,000 containers which serve 200+ services
- Our streaming services process over 80 billion events per month
What we use
- We have access to Python, Snowflake, SQL, DBT for analysis
- Our data visualization tool is Looker
- Our product backend is Java and Python microservices coupled with Spark, Kinesis, Airflow, Snowflake, and Postgres, all hosted on AWS
- Our team supports stakeholders from Client Strategy, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, Designers and the Leadership Team

- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $182,240 - $285,000 annually + equity + benefits
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location
