Job Description

Position:

Global Design is the creative, transformational team responsible for the Colgate-Palmolive global portfolio of products which are found in 75% of every home in the world. We have over 20 brands in five categories – Home Care, Oral Care, Personal Care, Skin Health and Pet Care. Our results range from the emotional components of a brand (look, tone and feel, brand identity) to the visual identity (product and package design, digital, video and photo production) for all of our brands. We are design obsessed.

We’re looking for a Temporary Contract position as a Brand Design Manager to join our Enterprise Oral Care team out of our New York Park Avenue headquarters.

Brand Design Managers (BDMs) handle and advise the look and feel of our global brands and businesses. This role transforms brand strategy into impactful brand experiences and design solutions that meet marketing and business objectives. As a member of the Enterprise Oral Care team, this role will lead brands globally from the center, working with regional marketing partners to lead global initiatives and will report to the Sr. Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead key projects alongside the Director including assisting and driving the overall project strategy, maintaining agency relationship, developing and maintaining timelines, project budgets, and leading through the end to end design process
  • Run/Design the look and feel of our Global and/or Regional Brand portfolio
  • Retain acute understanding of early innovation discovery & incubation processes.
  • Apply the design thinking process and be able to plan and navigate early innovation processes
  • Dreaming up product ideas, establishing various stimuli for iterative testing.
  • Work within tight budgets and timelines and leapfrog projects to success.
  • Identify and Codify how we push the brand experience boundaries (360 Design, Omni-Channel, Key Visuals, Shopper, Copy, Strategy )
  • Optimally build relationships and influence design methodologies within cross functional teams across regions and functions to deliver on projects
  • Collaborate with Insights and provide input into design research to influence learning plans.
  • Drive packaging excellence with internal and external partners (own the Design Brief and Project Plan process)
  • Ensure seamless project management from the design development through design finalization.
  • Coordinate with the director of brand design in leading all aspects of and managing relationships with external agencies, ensuring seamless project planning, budgets, timelines and design research
  • Communicate sophisticated concepts to stakeholders representing strategic and user-focused viewpoints

Requirements:

  • Design Degree
  • 8+ years experience in a creative agency or in-house agency or internal brand design management
  • Portfolio of work showcasing design CPG expertise, innovation design, packaging and product design.
  • Must be NYC accessible to be able to be onsite 3 days a week and as required by the business needs.
  • Entrepreneurial, design obsessed mentality
  • Extraordinary design taste. Creative vision and ability to think creatively
  • Deep understanding of the principles of great design systems and brand assets
  • (i.e., color theory; typography, shape language etc.)
  • Laser sharp project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace risk and uncertainty while working in an ambiguous and multifaceted work environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of consumer behavior, market trends, and industry standard processes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, GSuite, and other relevant design software/tools,
