Job Description

Project length: 12 months to start

Start date: First week of January

Hours: 40 hours/week

Location: Please note that the client is flexible and can accommodate remote candidates. However, candidates based in Washington, D.C., are required to work in a hybrid model at 601 E Street, NW, Washington, D.C.

This can be either a 1099 (contractor/freelancer) or W2 (employee of record with benefits) contract, depending on the candidate's preference. Please note that the rates vary based on the selected engagement type: Max hourly rate for W2: $67/hr Max hourly rate for 1099: $76/hr

Job description:

Contractor will be responsible for assisting AARP’s Media Strategy team in researching, developing, and managing execution of strategies focused on growing our Media & Content Publishing business (inclusive of digital content, social media, specialized media, online communities, and print publications).

Contractor will have one overarching project supporting this work, which will include tasks supporting specific Media Strategy projects.

Contractor should have experience in the media and content publishing industry, with a background in business analysis, strategic planning, research, and/or innovation.

  • Ability to develop and present business cases effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Deliverables and tasks:

Contractor will assist in strategy development and execution in support of growing AARP’s Media & Content Publishing business.

Conduct market research, perform analysis of current and prospective business opportunities, develop business cases and strategy proposals, present recommendations to senior leadership, manage strategy execution projects.

About the team:

  • Team of about 8
  • 1 other person will be working closely with in media strategy integration
  • Eventually will be in front of leadership

HUGE NICE TO HAVE- Any experience in a legacy publisher or news brands, broadcast media, digital media

Must Have:

  • Experience in Media & Content Publishing industry 3-5 years
  • Ability to conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and assess the competitive landscape
  • Ability to create business cases to support strategic initiatives
  • Ability to engage with project teams to ensure alignment and successful implementation of strategies

Looking for:

  • Experience in some form of digital/digital native space
  • Analytical mindset - research, understand scope of market, and be able to synthesize those learnings and present back- element of BA and then synthesizing those insights by looking internally or externally to drive recommendations-
  • Less PM more so strategy of development-

Training

No formal training, but there will be time dedicated to learning the AARP business, strategy and processes. We're ready to come and learn the status of the business and where we are looking to grow and evolve from there.
