About SecondWrite

SecondWrite is a cybersecurity company based in Maryland selling a suite of SaaS and on- premise software products for malware analysis. Combining techniques in AI with a vast database of files and websites, we glean insights and intelligence about files and websites. We productize this technology in a variety of form factors, including a Threat Intelligence product, a zero-day malware detection engine, and a detailed dynamic malware analysis sandbox. Tests show that its verdicts are more accurate than leading AV tools, and its reports contain actionable information not found with other solutions.

About The Position

SecondWrite is looking for a highly skilled, remote, full-time AI developer with strong software development skills. The position is for a just-awarded 3-year DARPA contract, and is likely to be extended. Candidates who intend to work in the position for at least three years are strongly preferred. US citizenship is a must.

Your job will be to build an LLM-based software product, fine-tune models, conduct testing and evaluation, and deploy models on the cloud. The product will also include building other software besides the LLM, so strong software development skills are a must. Besides excellent development skills, strong skills are also needed with responding to trouble tickets, troubleshooting, quick fixes and long-term repairs as well as, occasionally, preparing a written response to a customer. We are looking for the type of developer who wants to “figure it out”.

Candidates will be sponsored for an application for Top Secret security clearance. Having such

clearance is a valuable asset in the job market. The job is remote, but involves approximately

quarterly travel to the Washington DC area.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Please note that, due to the nature of the DARPA contract and in compliance with U.S. federal regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens to be eligible for this role.
  • At least 3 years of full-time, post-school work experience in software development and

LLM-based software. More experienced candidates are welcome.

  • Strong Python programming experience, with a focus on NLP and LLM integration.
  • Experience building software that uses (or communicates with) open-source LLMs (e.g.,

LLaMA, GPT-J) and frameworks like Hugging Face.

  • Proficiency with vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone, or Weaviate)
  • Experience with RAG frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Haystack).
  • Familiarity with API development, deployment pipelines, and Docker.
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices (version control, testing).
  • Should be willing to undergo an application for top secret security clearance.
  • Should be willing to travel to Washington DC approximately once per quarter.

Preferred:

  • Experience with model fine-tuning, quantization, or other optimization techniques.
  • Active top secret security clearance.
  • Location in the greater Washington DC metro area is a plus. If that is not the case, then

living within 200 miles of DC is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Medical and dental benefits, retirement plan.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Flexible work hours (within a full-time commitment).
  • Rapidly learn enterprise dev and devops technologies in small teams.
  • Rapidly learn skills in the growing cybersecurity and Gen AI domains.
