Responsibilities
About the Team: The Bytedance Tax team is expanding to collaborate with various corporate functions on tax compliance, advisory, planning, structuring, and handling tax controversies. Our goal is to ensure both compliance and efficiency in managing direct and indirect taxes. As a member of ByteDance's tax function, you will be part of an international team that spans the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania. You will have the opportunity to work closely with various stakeholders within our organisation, such as the Accounting, Finance and Legal teams. As a Country Tax Manager for Indonesia, you will be looking after ByteDance's tax compliance obligations for Indonesia and will play a key role in shaping ByteDance's internal tax processes and your main responsibilities include: - Lead and manage the company’s tax function, including compliance, reporting, planning, and audits. - Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns. - Collaborate with external advisors and internal stakeholders (finance/tax BPs, legal teams) to evaluate and implement tax strategies. - Provide guidance on tax implications for new business initiatives, M&A, and cross-border transactions. - Manage the tax provision process and ensure compliance with accounting standards. - Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts on the business. - Develop and mentor senior tax staff and contribute to cross-functional knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field. - At least 5 years of progressive tax experience, including exposure in a managerial or leadership role. - Strong understanding of Indonesia's and international tax (tax treaty) laws and regulations. - Experience with tax accounting or PSAK and financial reporting for all taxes (CIT, VAT and WHT). - Familiarity with ERP/Oracle systems and tax compliance tools (e.g., Coretax, DJP Online). - Minimum 2 years of experience in tax consulting, before transitioning into a commercial or in-house tax role. Preferred Qualifications: - Taxation or Brevet B/C certification or Tax Attorney certification highly preferred. - Experience managing tax issues including tax audits and tax planning related to equity compensation, holding restructuring, intercompany loans, and digital goods/services. - Knowledge of international tax structures, including holding companies, transfer pricing and Pilar 2 implications. - Prior experience in the technology or e-commerce industry, or with clients in the relevant sector (e.g., cloud services, digital platforms).
