Position Summary
As the first hire in our tax department, the Senior Manager of Tax must be a “hands-on” self-starter who can function as the in-house expert and facilitator on all things tax related. The ideal candidate will have the ability to create strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (tax service providers) and should possess a combination of strong technical tax knowledge, leadership skills, significant experience with income tax provisions, income tax compliance, indirect taxes, and have experience (and/or the capability of) building a team from the ground up for a fast-growing company.
Job Responsibilities
Manage the preparation and completion of accurate and timely quarterly and year-end income tax provision computations and disclosures in accordance with ASC 740.
Manage the income tax compliance function, including the consolidated US federal income tax return, and state and local returns and review provision-to-return true up analysis. Work with the finance and accounting teams, and outside service providers on process improvements for the compliance process.
Provide guidance on income tax provision matters and assist in the decision-making processes.
Oversee and manage various tax-related filings and related audits, including property taxes, payroll taxes, etc.
Manage special projects such as Section 382 studies, tax planning, sales/use/withholding tax assistance, review business contracts, etc.) as needed.
Help develop and implement department policies and procedures to minimize risks associated with the accounting for income taxes. Perform required reviews, and act as the control owner for key controls within the tax cycle, under SOX 404.
Review annual statutory tax provisions and the financial statements of foreign subsidiaries as prepared under local GAAP.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required.
Minimum six years of experience with a combination of Big Four and/or for a publicly traded company.
Minimum of overall 7 years of experience in corporate taxes.
Prior experience managing external party for tax services.
Active CPA license required.
Conditions of Employment: Individual must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening and reference verification.
