Position Summary
Caris is looking for a highly skilled and motivated accounting professional to join our team. This is a high exposure role with a lot of potential future growth. Reporting to the Senior Director of Technical Accounting, the SEC Reporting Manager is responsible for all aspects of internal and external financial reporting, including 10-Q’s and 10-K’s, as well as earnings releases and proxy statement filings.
This role offers a great opportunity to work closely with a wide range of the Company’s departments, including Investor Relations, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Stock Administration, and Legal. This will allow you to develop a broad and deep understanding of the Company’s business and operations that are essential for strong career development.
The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, highly motivated, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
Job Responsibilities
Participate in the preparation of all external financial reporting, including Forms 10-K/10-Q, earnings releases, proxy statement, and other required SEC filings, in compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
Responsible for detailed preparation and review of supporting work papers for data and disclosures contained in SEC filings, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of all financial disclosures.
Independently perform research and monitor peer and industry filing to identify emerging trends and disclosure practices.
Coordinate the information gathering process across the organization and interact with the external auditors.
Create and maintain calendars and planning documents to communicate and manage deadline adherence throughout the reporting process.
Perform accounting for share-based compensation awards, including RSUs and stock options.
Facilitate in the implementation of controls under the requirements of SOX.
Participate in the implementation of new accounting and reporting guidance, including technical accounting research and design of new processes, and the implementation of ESG reporting requirements.
Complete special ad-hoc projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience working at a Big 4, with a minimum of 3 years serving public companies or,
Minimum 5 years of overall experience, with a mix of Big 4 and SEC reporting experience at public companies.
Active CPA license.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC Reporting, and SOX rules.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master in Accounting
Hands on experience with Active Disclosure or Workiva preferred.
Experience leading teams in technical accounting and SEC reporting at a public US company.
Experience with a company in the technology or biotechnology/medical field.
Solutions-oriented, ability to work with others and lead and affect process change and improvements.
Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills, accounting system and proficiency with other Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, etc.); Oracle/Hyperion reporting experience a plus.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral, to facilitate interaction through all levels of the organization.
Ability to research and propose resolutions on complex accounting issues.
Ability to quickly learn and utilize reporting and other management systems and tools.
Physical Demands
Must possess ability to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for long periods of time.
