Position Summary
The Senior Security Manager is a strategic leadership role reporting to the Director of Corporate Security. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive security programs across all company sites, with a specialized focus on physical security and executive protection. This position ensures the safety and security of personnel, assets, and facilities while maintaining a proactive approach to risk management, executive protection, and crisis response. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and external security partners to design and enforce policies that mitigate threats and ensure business continuity. The Senior Security Manager will lead a team of security professionals, manage vendor relationships, and oversee the deployment of physical and technological security measures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Security in conducting Threat Assessments and Threat Mitigation of individuals exhibiting threatening behaviors toward Caris Life Sciences or any of its employees.

  • Aids in maintaining 24/7/365 oversight of badging systems; alarm and surveillance systems, security personnel and all other physical security measures.

  • Responsible for the protection and physical security of executive leadership.

  • Manages onsite and remote security personnel to ensure all physical/technical/operational security policies, standards, and operating procedures are adhered to.

  • Conducts audits of all security systems to ensure proper maintenance, usage, and capabilities.

  • Assists as Lead Agent or Advanced Team lead for Personal Protection Details as needed or based on threat intelligence.

  • Assists the Director of Security with the creation, implementation, training, and maintenance of all policies and procedures within security and assigned teams/areas.

  • Assists the Director of Security with conducting risk assessments, managing contracted security personnel/hiring additional security personnel, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders such as our local, state and federal partners.

  • Ensures compliance with security policies and best practices.

  • Assists the Director of Security with background investigations, access control audits, and internal investigations.

  • Provides oversight of the Security Operations Center; makes recommendations on best practices, reviews/modifies standard operating procedures, establishes an intelligence analysis component to the Security Operations Center.

  • Coordinates state of Texas Private Security Bureau requirements such as training and internal audits. Maintains compliance records for Level III and Level IV security personnel.

  • Maintain working relationships with vendors and planning leadership to ensure proper expansion timelines and guidelines are met.

  • Supervises and assists TSCM vendor (technical surveillance counter measures)

  • Acts as a liaison between local law enforcement and government agencies in regard to threat mitigation.

  • Acts as a liaison to HR/Legal in assistance with Caris investigations.

  • Assist in design, documentation, and implementation of physical security technology using structural drawings and as-builts.

  • Support end-users, vendors, and teams across multiple times zones.

  • Manage facilities/vendors during installations and support visits.

  • Effectively escalate and communicate implementation issues internally and externally

  • Maintain strict confidentiality with information while safeguarding intellectual property

  • Follow corporate physical security technical policies, standards, and operating procedures

  • Assist, where needed, with the development and implementation of physical security technical policies, standards, and operating procedures


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or military, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Must have or be able to attain licensure to carry firearms for private security protection.

  • Experience with complex investigations.

  • Experience operating security VMS and Access Control Systems.

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability towards solving problems, while working under pressure and effectively communicating these solutions.

  • Ensure procedures and processes are in place that lead to delivery of quality results and continually reassess their effectiveness to achieve continuous improvement, supporting those recommendations with relevant data points.

  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing, organizing, and tracking details on multiple accounts with varying complexity.

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. The role will require interaction with a wide range of fellow employees, senior leaders, as well as external auditors and experts.

  • Maintain a high standard of discipline and professionalism.

  • Ability to think quickly and creatively and initiate new ideas or solutions to business issues.

  • Independence of thought and sound judgment relating to business/situational needs.

  • Demonstrated commitment, self-motivation, and drive.

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance; Proactive, motivated self-starter

  • Flexibility and proven ability to handle and manage frequent changes effectively and efficiently

  • Meets productivity/performance standards as set forth by management.

  • Ability to maintain composure and make intelligent decisions in high-stress/fast -paced situations.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to share and receive information and ideas from all levels of the organization in order to achieve the desired results.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use.

  • This position requires frequent background checks and may be subject to drug screening.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) preferred.

  • Experience with technical security counter-measures

  • Previous experience in corporate Security or related field.

  • 5+ years’ experience in a leadership position.

  • Demonstrated career growth in previous security, or a related field.

  • Strong training/development background.

  • Must possess professionalism, superior organizational skills, communications skills that allow the ability to educate and influence, an unrelenting passion for persistent follow up, and a drive towards problem resolution.


Physical Demands

  • General work environment – sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.

  • Noise level is typically low to medium.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds over head.


Training

  • All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.

  • Firearm licensing compliance training up to federal standards.


Other

  • Required: On call security detail and incident response 24/7 365 days per year.

  • Requires travel.
