Position Summary
The Senior Director – Precision Medicine Initiatives is a high-impact, national role responsible for driving strategic growth and adoption of precision oncology solutions across leading health systems, academic institutions, and pathology networks. The focus is on advancing business development and expanding Caris Life Sciences’ presence through deep engagement with Pathology departments, Hospital Laboratory Operations, and C-suite leadership.
This individual will serve as a key strategic advisor and national subject matter expert in pathology sales, shaping market strategy, building executive-level relationships, and leading complex sales engagements focused on diagnostic and molecular testing adoption. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oncology diagnostics, a deep understanding of tumor profiling and pathology workflows, and a proven track record of success in pathology and laboratory-based sales.
Key Responsibilities
Lead national pathology-focused sales strategy by identifying and cultivating high-value hospital systems and integrated delivery networks (IDNs).
Drive business development efforts with Pathology and Hospital Laboratory Operations, targeting top-tier institutions and networks.
Champion adoption of Caris’ Molecular Intelligence platform through consultative engagement and data-driven value propositions to medical and administrative decision-makers.
Serve as a national resource and coach for Strategic Account teams, Account Managers, and Precision Medicine Initiative Directors through strategic planning and field support.
Represent Caris in high-level discussions with Chief Pathologists, Medical Directors, Laboratory Executives, and hospital administrators to drive molecular profiling utilization.
Define and implement scalable growth strategies aligned with market trends in precision oncology, emphasizing anatomical and clinical pathology partnerships.
Lead national sales planning and forecasting with executive leadership to ensure consistent growth and performance.
Coordinate cross-functional teams (sales, clinical, IT, marketing, client services) to support client strategies and ensure execution excellence.
Monitor the evolving reimbursement landscape for pathology and diagnostics and provide actionable insights to both clients and internal stakeholders.
Develop and deliver strategic presentations, proposals, and thought leadership to national accounts and healthcare consortiums.
Represent Caris at national meetings, trade shows, and industry conferences.
Required Qualifications
7–10+ years of progressive sales experience in oncology diagnostics, molecular laboratory services, or precision medicine.
In-depth knowledge of pathology workflows, hospital laboratory operations, and diagnostic decision-making.
Established relationships with chiefs of pathology, lab directors, and hospital executives in key regions.
Expertise in oncology biomarkers, therapeutic decision-making, and clinical integration of molecular profiling.
Strong understanding of reimbursement and billing policies impacting laboratory diagnostics.
Experience in strategic selling and national account management within health systems or academic centers.
Executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite and clinical leadership.
Proven leadership experience managing sales teams or national strategic initiatives (highly desirable).
Demonstrated understanding of client needs in pathology and the ability to deliver service and technology solutions.
Strong knowledge of oncology therapeutics, surgical oncology, and molecular lab science; working knowledge of biomarkers and related drug response is a major advantage.
Solid grasp of laboratory billing and reimbursement as a customer resource.
Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem-solving under pressure with clear communication.
General business acumen with the ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge.
Self-starter with minimal supervision required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); working knowledge of internet and CRM platforms.
Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in life sciences, business, or healthcare preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA preferred.
5–7+ years of oncology/pathology sales experience in molecular diagnostics, medical devices, or pharma preferred.
Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and compliance with Caris vehicle requirements.
Proficiency in CRM platforms, virtual collaboration tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
May require lifting routine office supplies and use of standard office equipment.
Willingness to travel nationally up to 50–70%, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
