Position Summary
The Patient Liaison Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the patient billing function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing and collections. This role also oversees the financial assistance programs, working closely with patients to ensure accessibility and affordability of care. The Manager will supervise billing staff, optimize workflows, and collaborate cross-functionally to support revenue integrity and patient satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of patient billing, including patient statements, payment processing, and collections.
Respond to and resolve complex patient billing inquiries with professionalism and empathy
Monitor team performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) such as billing turnaround times, denial rates, and patient collection metrics.
Ensure billing processes adhere to applicable federal, state, and payer regulations, including HIPAA, CMS, and private insurer guidelines.
Train, develop, and evaluate billing team members, foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
Collaborate with internal departments (payer relations, compliance, customer service) to improve billing workflows and resolve revenue cycle issues.
Assist with implementation and maintenance of billing software and systems, driving automation and efficiency.
Partner with cross functional teams to support account reconciliation, audits, and reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Finance, Business, or a related field; or industry certification (e.g., CHAM, CRCR, HFMA) is preferred.
Minimum 7 years of experience in healthcare billing or revenue cycle management, preferably within diagnostics, pathology, or laboratory services.
At least 5 years of management or supervisory experience.
Experience managing patient financial assistance programs is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of medical billing regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and payer policies.
Proficiency with billing systems and Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Majority of work is performed in a desk/cubicle environment.
