Position Summary
The Director of Competitive and Market Intelligence is responsible for shaping enterprise-wide insights that guide Caris Life Sciences’ commercial strategy, product differentiation, and market growth initiatives. Serving as a key partner to senior leaders across Marketing, Commercial, and Business Development, this role delivers impactful intelligence that influences high-level decision-making across the organization. Success in this role requires strong strategic acumen, the ability to operate independently at a senior level, and a proven capacity to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of Caris’ competitive intelligence strategy by collecting market intelligence and synthesizing insights that inform strategic decision-making across the organization.

  • Build and evolve a proactive, enterprise-wide intelligence program that identifies opportunities for Caris to differentiate its products and services through strategic positioning, innovation, and market leadership.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders by delivering high-impact, insight-driven recommendations that influence product strategy, corporate development, and go-to-market plans.

  • Align competitive and market intelligence with corporate initiatives, ensuring key findings are embedded in strategic planning processes, business cases, and growth initiatives.

  • Deliver timely and actionable intelligence that informs product roadmap decisions, supports commercial prioritization, and strengthens competitive differentiation across core offerings, including Comprehensive Genomic Profiling, MRD, Therapeutic Monitoring, MCED, and Heme laboratory-developed tests.

  • Develop and maintain strategic frameworks and methodologies for monitoring competitor activity, analyzing market shifts, and identifying emerging threats or opportunities.

  • Create and deliver executive-level summaries, dashboards, and briefings that distill complex insights into clear strategic implications and recommended actions.

  • Partner with Biopharma Business Development, Commercial, and Marketing teams to ensure competitive intelligence is integrated into account planning, sales enablement, and partnership strategy.

  • Manage intelligence ecosystems by overseeing relationships with third-party vendors, data providers, and analysts to enrich Caris’ strategic insights.

  • Establish a regular cadence of communication to ensure internal stakeholders remain informed on market movements, competitor strategies, and broader industry trends.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a market research, strategy, competitive analysis or sales analytics capacity.

  • Significant experience in distilling research/analysis into written briefs for commercial executives and/or sales teams.

  • Expertise in creating visually appealing executive-level presentations.

  • Prior experience with business intelligence/data visualization solutions (I.e. Looker, Tableau, Qlik, etc.).

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a Life Sciences organization or a company focused on selling to Life Sciences organizations preferred.

  • Experienced in handling confidential corporate strategy and information preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

  • Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Majority of work is performed in a desk/cubicle environment.

Training

  • All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.

Other

  • Occasionally business travel.
