Position Summary

The Kitting Lead will be responsible for leading team members and activities required to produce diagnostic kits in a regulated environment. This includes working closely with Supply Chain/inventory planning partners, coordinating production activities, and performing order picking, product labeling, inspection, signing off batch record and release forms, preparing QC samples, material release and transfer. The Kitting Lead will train new and existing kitting associates and ensures that standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, company Policy and associated company rules and requirements are being communicated and met.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and pick materials listed on pick slips and record component material information (e.g., part number, lot number) on batch records. Ensure that kitting process steps are documented as performed.

  • Handle materials in accordance with appropriate storage conditions (room temp, refrigerated, frozen, etc.).

  • Verify that line clearances are performed prior to production runs and inspection of materials to prevent mix-ups.

  • Verify that kit labels are printed and applied to materials per applicable SOPs and batch record instructions. Check labels for correct placement and accuracy.

  • Use ERP system to transact material movement to maintain accurate inventory levels and correct material status.

  • Prepare and forward kit samples to Quality Control (QC) for testing.

  • Release materials that pass QC inspection and place in available/released inventory for forward replenishment.

  • Pull finished kits from available inventory and stage for transfer to lab facilities.

  • Monitor inventory levels of auxiliary supplies (e.g., labels, paper, etc.) and replenish/request orders as needed.

  • Communicate concerns, issues, and status of specific production orders with the Logistics Supervisor/ Manager and team. Notify management immediately of any operational or material issues.

  • Initiate nonconformances when found during the kitting process. Perform risk assessment, investigation, and corrective actions to address/resolve material issues.

  • Receive incoming goods, performs put away, and transfers material items.

  • Utilize material handling equipment – carts, pallet jack, and/or forklift to safely transport materials.

  • Ensure that daily/weekly cleaning tasks are performed and documented. Maintain cleaning log.

  • Make certain that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are adhered to.

  • Follow all safe work practices, policies, and processes.

  • Establish that SOPs, work instructions/job-aides, and best practices related to receiving, material handling, storage, and transfer.

  • Ensure all training is completed as assigned and that couriers trained can demonstrate proficiency.

  • Promote and follow all safe work practices, policies, and processes.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and hazardous materials.

  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the supervisor and /or manager.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 3-5 years of manufacturing, warehouse, and/or distribution experience.

  • 2-3 years kitting experience.

  • 1-2 years of team lead/supervisory experience.

  • Experience using ERP/WMS to process Work Orders and perform various inventory transactions.

  • Inventory control experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use.

  • Strong ability to promote teamwork and build a culture of performance and great customer service.

  • Experience coordinating the training of new and existing employees on material handling and performing kitting processes.

  • Willing to work OT and weekends as scheduled.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of team lead/supervisory experience in manufacturing, warehouse, and/or distribution operations.

  • College degree and/or college level coursework completed.

  • Experience working in a regulated GMP/FDA regulated or diagnostic testing/ pharmaceutical (CAP/CLIA) organization and environment.

  • Solid understanding of industry related issues and trends in manufacturing, material handling, warehousing, kitting, and/or use of technology in logistics.

  • Self-motivated with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organization skills and ability to plan and coordinate workload.

  • Attention to detail and ability to catch and correct discrepancies.

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment as needed (forklift, pallet jack, etc.).

  • Ability to read and follow SOP’s, process flowcharts, and work instructions/job-aides.

Physical Demands

  • Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail.

  • Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

  • Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Training

  • All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this position.

Other

  • This position will require working occasional evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
