Position Summary
The Senior Director, BioPartnering Competitive & Market Intelligence, will lead our Competitive and Market Intelligence function, driving critical insights that inform business strategy and competitive positioning within the pharma and biotech markets. This role will be instrumental in shaping our go-to-market approach for our NGS-based diagnostic offerings, including molecular profiling, multimodal data services, real-world data (RWD) services, and signature development solutions.
The successful candidate will establish and execute comprehensive intelligence programs while managing direct report(s) supporting these intelligence activities. This position requires a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology ecosystem, competitive dynamics, and market trends that impact precision medicine and diagnostics.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Intelligence Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive competitive and market intelligence strategies aligned with business objectives
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leadership on market opportunities, competitive threats, and industry trends
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with product management, marketing, medical affairs, and corporate development teams to translate intelligence into actionable strategies
- Establish intelligence frameworks and methodologies to systematically monitor and analyze the competitive landscape
Competitive Intelligence
- Monitor and analyze competitor activities, including product launches, partnerships, acquisitions, clinical trials, and strategic initiatives
- Conduct deep-dive competitive assessments on key players in the NGS diagnostics, molecular profiling, and precision medicine spaces
- Track competitive positioning, pricing strategies, and market share dynamics across target pharma and biotech segments
- Establish early warning systems for competitive threats and market disruptions
Market Intelligence & Analysis
- Analyze market size, growth trajectories, and segmentation within pharma and biotech customer segments
- Track emerging technologies, scientific breakthroughs, and innovation trends in precision medicine
- Conduct research to validate market hypotheses and investment decisions
- Develop market forecasts and opportunity assessments for new product development and market expansion
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor direct report(s) responsible for supporting intelligence
- Foster a culture of analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and strategic thinking
- Collaborate with external research partners, consultants, and industry experts as needed
- Represent the company at industry conferences, advisory boards, and networking events
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Present intelligence findings and strategic recommendations to leadership
- Create comprehensive intelligence reports, market assessments, and competitive briefings
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops and strategic planning sessions
- Develop dashboards and channels to communicate critical intelligence insights to key internal stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, market research, strategic planning, or business development within life sciences
- Proven track record in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or diagnostics industries
- Experience with NGS technologies, molecular diagnostics, or precision medicine markets preferred
- Previous experience driving strategic initiatives
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical drug development, clinical trials, and regulatory processes
- Proficiency with competitive intelligence tools, databases, and analytics platforms
- Strong analytical skills with experience in competitive and market intelligence
- Strategic thinking with ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive-level audiences
- Strong project management capabilities with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Collaborative leadership style with experience working across matrix organizations
- Intellectual curiosity with passion for staying current on industry developments
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) in business, life sciences, or equivalent experience
- Experience with clinicogenomic data, biomarkers, or companion diagnostics
- Established network within the pharma/biotech and diagnostics industry
- Experience with real-world data and real-world evidence applications
- Knowledge of precision oncology, rare diseases, or other therapeutic areas
Physical Demands
- Will work at a computer most of the time, with some time spent collaborating with subject matter experts and business group leaders either in person or through remote conferencing.
- Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail.
- Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

- Position can be based remotely or at company headquarters
- Travel requirements: 10-15% for industry conferences, client meetings, and team collaboration
- Occasional international travel may be required
Annual Hiring Range
$195,000 - $245,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
