The Legal team at Chainalysis advises both internal and external stakeholders on the forefront of cryptocurrency and its constantly evolving regulatory landscape. Our job is to ensure the company continues its rapid growth by employing sound and efficient judgment to support operations around the company and influence a groundbreaking industry as it matures and becomes more widely adopted.

As Senior Commercial Counsel, you will be integral in scaling out the global, commercial legal function at Chainalysis and driving smart revenue for the company.

In this role, you'll:

  • Create, review, negotiate, and manage a variety of commercial agreements, including SaaS subscription and channel/partner agreements supporting our Sales and Partner organizations globally

  • Develop a strong rapport and have worked in collaboration with our operations, marketing, infosec, and R&D teams in connection with our transactional goals

  • Work through data privacy (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and security issues in complex commercial transactions

  • Demonstrate an obsession with internal client and external customer satisfaction, while promoting scalable processes and procedures

  • Eventually complete A to Z understanding of our sales process and are a trusted business partner to senior sales leadership and other internal stakeholders

  • Become an expert in Chainalysis’ contracting model and a trusted leader in managing quarterly sales cycles

  • Develop a strong understanding of Chainalysis’ products, services and business model

  • Provide commercial guidance outside of the legal realm in furtherance of the company’s objectives

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Excellent judgment and critical thinking skills

  • Experience in SaaS licensing within the technology industry, either through exposure in-house or at a top-tier law firm; experience negotiating with financial institutions strongly preferred

  • Experience supporting a global sales team (and an understanding of the sales process) at a B2B, rapid growth technology company

  • Experience with, or solid understanding of, GDPR and CCPA in a transactional setting and a demonstrated history of reviewing DPAs, as well as providing guidance on complex compliance and information security issues

  • The ability to be independent, patient, thoughtful, and adept at managing shifting priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment, but at the same time possess the judgment to know when and how to escalate issues

  • Willingness to occasionally support sales teams across the globe outside of local business hours

  • Fluency in French

Nice to have experience:

  • Government contracting experience (whether direct or through reseller/framework arrangements)

  • Familiarity with or an interest in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry

  • Experience with Public Sector procurement

  • Experience supporting a large international region, particularly the Mediterranean, MEA, and France

  • Portuguese language proficiency
