Job Description
What you’ll be doing
As a Regulatory Compliance Manager covering our APAC entities, you will take the lead in all things operational compliance work, help to maintain our overall company policy, and lead on assisting various business areas on understanding and embedding regulatory requirements. The role will suit a senior generalist operational regulatory compliance manager/officer looking to join a fast-paced, growing payments financial technology company. You will hit the ground running from the start, and so we look for self-starters who relish that kind of challenge and pace in helping the business.
How you’ll make an impact
Ensuring appropriate internal guidance and advice is delivered in accordance with the Singapore, Hong Kong and Australian regulatory requirements.
Additional experience and exposure to the Japanese, New Zealand, and other regulatory bodies/entities in the region is a very strong plus.
Assist colleagues and MLROS in our APAC offices by providing practical assistance relating to the adherence of requirements.
Enhancing our processes across a variety of functions to ensure appropriate oversight of business activities.
Reviewing, developing and embedding collaborative regulatory compliance oversight and assurance.
Drafting / embedding regulatory compliance policies and procedures and collaborating with stakeholders across the business to agree content, minimum standards and controls - including providing training company wide.
Conduct ongoing horizon scanning and be actively involved in completing other regulatory initiatives such as reporting, notifications and external affairs engagement.
Reviewing and challenging business proposals to ensure that there has been adequate consideration of regulatory requirements, and evidencing appropriate actions to ensure delivery of fair customer outcomes.
Working with the business to embed the regulatory compliance initiatives and programmes.
Assisting in the delivery of timely responses to external audit and external regulatory enquiries particularly regulatory reporting and notifications.
Qualifications
A Regulatory Compliance specialist with at least 5 years background and experience in payments and financial technology within Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. It’s a distinguished positive if you have had experience with New Zealand and/or Japan regulatory entities, additionally.
Experience in a wide range of regulatory compliance topics such as, but not limited to, Compliance Monitoring, Consumer Protections, Horizon Scanning, Regulatory Mapping, Engagement, Notifications and Reporting, Complaints, Financial and Operational Resilience, Outsourcing and Safeguarding.
A mindset of self learning where skill gaps are present for jurisdictions with low experience.
Track record implementing a Regulatory Compliance vertical within the compliance function.
An ability to apply rules and regulations in a way that is user-friendly for a varied audience, and how to seek early engagement for regulatory compliance initiatives and programmes.
Experience of working in a regulatory compliance team in a scale-up environment is welcomed, as is exposure you’ve had to authorisation in different jurisdictions.
Interest in working with an e-money and payments business, ideally one focused on merchant acquiring, and an enthusiasm for innovation in technology.
An analytical mind able to “see” the complexities of procedures and regulations but then simplify issues for others.
A pragmatic, commercial and creative approach to problem solving and decision-making.
