What you will do
Here at Choco, we like to use the space shuttle as a metaphor for our engineering work. Now, you will join and help us bring the shuttle to the moon. Your main objective will be to build a platform that enables feature squads to autonomously develop, test, deploy and operate their stack in a secure and reliable way. You will do this by ensuring that our systems are stable, reliable, operations are visible, deployment pipelines are in place, and teams have the necessary environments and tooling to ship efficiently and fast. You will work together with DevOps engineers and backend developers in your team, while also interacting with product managers and developers from other squads.
- Work together with cross-functional peers to deliver team-level initiatives and working autonomously on individual tasks
- Contribute and actively engage to the planning of team-level projects, ceremonies, and culture
- Maintain and evolve the services your team owns in order to meet our user's expectations.
- Participate in your domain's ceremonies and engage with your community
- Improve and monitor existing systems in collaboration with your team
- Apply best-practices, deliver high-quality code, and review the work of your team
Our tech stack
We have a cutting-edge environment and use NodeJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, AWS DynamoDB and our infrastructure is powered by AWS SNS, AWS SQS, AWS Lambda, AWS AppSync, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CodePipeline and AWS S3.
What you will need to have an impact with us
- Competent in producing readable and maintainable code
- 3+ experience in Fullstack development (front-end and backend)
- Understanding of web standards and accessibility guidelines, and ability to implement them
- Ability to independently deliver team-level initiatives through proactiveness, eagerness and curiosity
- Good communication skills combined with eagerness to share others
You will impress us even more if you have
- Experience in HTML, CSS, Typescript, and React
- Experience with GraphQL or AppSync
- Experience working with highly performant and scalable web applications
- Experience working with Lambda functions and serverless architecture
- Experience with AWS and it's services like DynamoDB and CloudFormation
- Experience building real-time communication services
- Experience working with Design Systems in several companies/environments
- Knowledge of emerging web technologies, such as Web Assembly, Web Components, etc.

- Technical interview/Pair Programming: during this stage we want to get deeper into your technical knowledge. Next to some technical questions you will work together with another engineer in a pair programming exercise.
- Systems Design & Architecture Interview: Together with our lead engineers you will do a system design exercise to test your architectural skills (whiteboard session).
- Cultural & Collaboration interview: we will have a chat with you about our culture and check what can be your non-technical contribution to Choco. Our product managers would like to see how you would collaborate on building the most amazing product for our customers.
