Staff Data Architect

At Databricks Information Technology, we are a product led organization transforming the way data is sourced, designed and used to help us scale seamlessly in face of incredible growth. We are looking for a Staff Data Architect to be a thought leader in how to design, implement, manage and scale our internal lakehouse architecture using Databricks own product set for all internal use-cases. You will join a growing Data Analytics, Engineering & Integration team that supports the data needs for internal stakeholders, across all business functions. You will report to the Sr Director of Data Analytics, Engineering and Integrations and work closely with our leadership and business partners.

The impact you will have:

  • Be a thought leader:
    • Work with executives and fellow architects to define Databricks strategy and roadmap to build the best lakehouse architecture for our internal use-cases
    • Have a full stack view of opportunities across data sourcing, scalable workflows, data platform, automation frameworks and visualization design
    • Help evaluate new data technologies and tools
    • Establish and maintain data standards to policies to drive consistency and standardization for all data assets
    • Define the vision and strategy of data products that will be used for business use-cases
  • Solve business problems:
    • Build empathy for our customers and deliver data solutions that have measurable impact on the business
    • Build data models that are flexible and extensible to account for the future needs of our high growth business
    • Create and implement blueprints for data management processes and procedures, across the company to support business objectives
  • Drive results collaboratively:
    • Work with product managers to deeply understand business requirements and constraints
    • Work with technical leads to convert data models into actionable execution plans, to drive execution for key initiatives
    • Build strong relationships with our internal team and business partners

What we look for:

  • Minimum of 8 years experience with enterprise data management and architecture with software development background
  • Experience building and driving enterprise level data architecture across sophisticated platforms in the cloud - Azure, AWS or GCP
  • Good to have: Experience with Databricks Platform
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders on a variety of different requirements with different levels of technical understanding
  • Understanding of AI/ML platforms and data requirements to facilitate development of AI/ML models
  • With the ability to operate at a different levels of technical depth to match the audience
  • MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
