The People Analytics Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure, enabling HR and People Analytics teams to access, analyze, and act on workforce data efficiently. This role requires deep expertise in data modeling, pipeline development, and engineering best practices, ensuring high-quality, reliable people data for decision-making across the organization - you will work closely with internal HR Business Partners, other Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, and with our Deel HR Product team.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimize workforce data models to support analytical, reporting, and predictive use cases within HR.
Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform people data from multiple sources (HRIS, ATS, L&D platforms, etc.).
Optimize SQL queries and analytical workflows to ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability in HR reporting and dashboards.
Implement and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with global workforce data privacy regulations.
Proactively identify and resolve data quality issues, implementing automated validation checks and anomaly detection solutions.
Support HR analysts and business users by enabling self-service analytics through well-structured data models and documentation.
Contribute to the evolution of our People Analytics infrastructure, leveraging best practices in modern data engineering (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, Airflow, Fivetran).
Work with our Product Team to influence the roadmap of the Analytics product for Deel HR customers
Collaborate with the People Analytics and HR Tech teams to enhance our HR data platform, ensuring alignment with business needs and scalability for future growth.
Work closely with HR and business leaders to translate workforce challenges into scalable data solutions, influencing the roadmap for analytics-driven HR decision-making.
Other duties as assigned, as the scope and focus areas for People continues to expand.
Tech Stack & Tools
Primary Technologies: dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran, GitHub, Python, SQL
Source Systems (HR Data): Workday, Greenhouse, CultureAmp, Lattice, payroll and benefits systems, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar roles with a focus on people analytics or HR data.
High-level SQL skills with experience in designing analytical data models optimized for HR reporting and insights.
Strong Python proficiency, particularly for data transformation, automation, and ETL/ELT workflows.
Hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools (dbt, Snowflake, Airflow, Fivetran, GitHub).
Proven ability to work with complex HR data structures, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and usability.
Familiarity with HR systems and workforce analytics tools (e.g., Workday, Greenhouse, CultureAmp) is a plus.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously successfully.
Ability to think strategically and creatively, with a strong focus on delivering results.
Excellent stakeholder management with a focus on continuous improvement and regular communication leveraging data and insights.
Strong passion for learning about our products and services through in-house and external training.
Experience in high-growth /pre-IPO Technology companies is highly preferred.
Proficiency with Google Office suite preferred.
