JOB TITLE: Senior Java Engineer

JOB LOCATION: Company Headquarters located in Burlington, Massachusetts. REMOTE EMPLOYMENT AVAILABLE FOR THIS POSITION. CAN TELECOMMUTE FROM ANY LOCATION IN THE UNITED STATES.

REQUIRED TRAVEL: Travel required 10% - 15% of all working days.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of Senior Java Engineer is responsible for working on the product while creating and enhancing capabilities in various modules. The Senior Java Engineer will participate in design discussions, performing coding on the back-end and working with database and J2EE technologies. The Senior Java Engineer will be responsible for performance tuning, addressing customer issues, and solving problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for design, implementation, and development within Java.
• Participate in all phases of software development including requirements definition, design, architecture, development, testing, and integration to bring cutting-edge technologies to market.
• Implement new product features according to specific requirements while adhering to the highest professional development standards.
• Work as a back-end server engineer in an agile development team alongside other developers, PMs and QA engineers and participate in all phases of the development process.
• Design and develop application components in Java to maintain existing code and to create new services.
• Solve interesting technology and usability challenges on a daily basis.
• Ensure applications receive thorough unit, system, and integration testing.
• Provide solution support and troubleshooting following deployment.
• Promote agile principles and methodology.
• Contribute to the future direction and vision of the product suite including new feature development and bug fixes.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field (foreign equivalent is acceptable) plus 5 years of employment experience in software development.

Employment experience must include:

• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated employment experience in Java programming and object-oriented programming.
• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated employment experience with performance optimization and troubleshooting of Java applications.
• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated employment experience in J2EE, Oracle, and Web Services.
• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated employment experience in Linux, shell, or other Unix scripting languages.
• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated employment experience in the full software development lifecycle using an agile development process.
