JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a finance leader with a strong financial acumen and demonstrated system experience in executing financial budgeting and actuals reporting within Life Sciences. This position requires effective interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to build cross-functional business relationships.
This position offers the opportunity to be in a hands-on role within the Finance Team and contribute by providing strategic financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting expertise while serving as a partner to the functional groups. Understanding what monetary, labor, and temporal resources are allocated to a set of value-driving goals is essential for driving company strategy and determining tactics.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Budget and Forecast Planning:
Lead the annual budget, forecasting and LRP process across all departments, inclusive of the latest re-forecast to refine expectations for the year
Build models to analyze liquidity, cash concentration cash forecasting, and strategic optionality multi-scenario planning
Prepare financial budget and results for Board and Audit Committee presentations
Develop goal / project-based forecasting and tracking in order to aid strategic discussions around resource prioritization
Build financial models and analyze business opportunities, risks, synergies, and cost models
Support partner collaboration analysis and contribute to business development financial modeling
Work with Finance, Business Development, and Executive Teams on designing and tracking of key performance metrics across Iambic in order to measure progress and frame how the application of some resource translates into the creation of some quantifiable unit of value
Financial Reporting & Variance Analyses:
Lead and present quarter-end financial close results
Provide regular reporting and variance analysis to all departments to promote decision-making and alignment to our corporate objectives & identify opportunities for cost efficiency
Understand Iambic’s business model so that Finance's commentary goes beyond numbers and contextualizes data with business outcomes
Partner with the Accounting Team on close processes around accruals and expenses, project code reporting and department and expense account reclasses
Prepare monthly headcount tracking and forecasting for executive review
System Enhancements, Process Improvement & Leadership:
Implement and refine FP&A processes, including the usage of a system like Adaptive
Drive dialogue between key stakeholders to establish and evolve organizational KPIs
Lead budgeting system selection and implementation
Review purchase requisitions to ensure budget and financial compliance
Apply working knowledge of RPA (robotic process automation) tools and techniques to automate processes, optimize system usage, and enhance business efficiency.
Contribute to continuous process improvements to identify opportunities to streamline and eliminate redundancies
When applicable, hire and mentor a team to support company growth
QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of relevant work experience in the biotech life sciences sector with a combination of private and public companies
MBA, CFA or CPA certification or management consulting experience required
Highly proficient working in NetSuite, Adaptive, Planful, Coupa, Procurify, etc.
Experience with advanced Excel BI functionality and languages (Power Query (M), PowerPivot (DAX)) and visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau
Exceptional financial modeling, reporting metrics and presentation
Advanced financial modeling skills, including P&Ls, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Experience managing and analyzing large datasets and ability to distill and present as clear and succinct executive-level insights
Excellent problem-framing, problem-solving, and project management in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) a plus.
