About Mux

Mux is video for developers. Our mission is to democratize video by solving the hard problems developers face when building video: video encoding and streaming (Mux Video), video monitoring (Mux Data), and more. Video is a huge part of people’s lives, and we want to help make it better.

We’re committed to building a healthy team that welcomes diverse backgrounds and experiences. We want people who care about our mission, are ready to grow, believe in our values (from Be Human to Turn Customers Into Fans), and want to improve the people around them.

You’ll join a tight-knit team with experience at places like Google, YouTube, Twitch, Reddit, Zencoder, Fastly, and more. Our founders previously started (and sold) Zencoder, an early leader in cloud video technology, and authored Video.js, the biggest HTML5 video player on the web. We organize Demuxed, the premier conference for video engineers in the world.

We’re backed by top investors like Coatue, Accel, Andreessen Horowitz, and Y Combinator. You’ll get to work with amazing companies: hundreds of startups, plus Strava, Patreon, Vimeo, Robinhood, PBS, and Equinox. Customers, large and small, love working with us and love our team.

We are building something big together. We’d love to hear from you!

About the Role

As a Full Stack Engineer on the Mux Data Platform team, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the client-facing interfaces and backend services that power Mux Data products. The Data Platform team is focused on providing a robust, scalable, and reliable data platform that enables developers to monitor and optimize end-to-end video playback experiences for millions of viewers worldwide. You will be responsible for managing and evolving our many client SDKs and contributing to our charting and analytics dashboard, empowering our users with critical insights.

You will contribute to the design, development, and operation of our data stack and infrastructure, which collects and aggregates over a trillion requests each month. You will work closely with other engineering teams to ensure the data platform can support evolving product features and growing data volume.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with your team to execute on technical roadmap and support product goals.

  • Manage and evolve our suite of client SDKs for various platforms.

  • Develop new metrics and features, including enhancement of our analytics dashboard.

  • Develop and maintain scalable and highly available data services and infrastructure.

  • Work on distributed data systems, including data ingestion, processing, and storage.

  • Participate in the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, launch, and on-call.

  • Review code and design documents, providing constructive feedback.

Who you are

We are hiring mid-level software engineers.

  • Expertise with front-end technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript and React, with a track record of building user-friendly interfaces.

  • Experience building REST APIs in using Golang, Elixir, or other similar general-purpose programming languages.

  • Solid engineering fundamentals (CS degree a plus).

  • Comfortable working across multiple platforms and environments.

  • Experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is a plus.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

If you don't have all of these requirements but think your experience could be a great fit, that's okay! Please apply and we can talk about what's most needed in the role.
