We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to help bring advanced AI/ML features to our travel and expense management platform. This position is perfect for a strong backend developer who’s excited to work with the latest AI/ML technologies in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
About the Position
As a Backend Engineer, you’ll design and build high-performance backend systems that enable large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and conversational assistants in our consumer products. You will collaborate closely with experts in AI/LLM and product teams to translate concepts into robust, scalable solutions for our end users.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and maintain scalable backend APIs and microservices supporting AI/LLM-powered features
  • Connect backend systems to AI/LLM services and platforms
  • Work with AI/LLM specialists to deliver production-ready, machine learning-driven functionality
  • Ensure all systems are reliable, high-performing, and secure
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver innovative features

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of backend development experience
  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (such as Java)
  • Proven ability to develop and support production-grade APIs and distributed services
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed computing
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL database systems
  • History of shipping scalable, consumer-facing products
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms and libraries (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.)
  • Exposure to LLMs, RAG, or conversation-based AI/ML applications
  • Familiarity with vector databases and embedding-based solutions
  • Solid background with public cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and deployment patterns
