The Opportunity

Join our Developer Growth team, ngrok's billing and growth team, where you'll design, build, and implement core software systems to enhance the ngrok platform. Our architecture already serves millions of customers worldwide, and we're looking for someone passionate about billing and revenue generating systems to help take it to the next level. This role is ideal for those excited to work on complex billing infrastructure, ensuring that our platform can scale to support our growing customer base. Successful candidates are curious learners who eagerly pick up new technologies and are driven by challenges with no clear answers.

What You'll Accomplish

  • Build and execute the roadmap for improving our billing system and the Cloud Edge platform supporting it
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to make decisions that enhance customer satisfaction
  • Lead technical initiatives and build organizational consensus around technical decisions
  • Design and implement scalable software for large user bases and high throughput environments
  • Mentor and coach other engineers, helping to grow the team’s skills and capabilities

Skills

  • 7+ years of professional experience in writing high-quality, production-level software
  • Expertise with billing systems and a passion for working on them
  • Experience with Go or one of the following languages: Rust, C, Java, or C++ (ngrok primarily uses Go, with some Rust and TypeScript)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor peers and a deep understanding of guiding junior engineers in their growth
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record in deploying high-value software for large distributed systems
  • Prior experience in startups is a plus
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus
  • Depth in computer networking is beneficial

Minimum salary of $180,000 to maximum $245,000

Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), internal equity with other team members, market data, and specific work location.

Compensation for this role depends on level, but we provide a competitive mix of salary and equity.

We provide a 401(k) with a 100% match up to 3% of your salary and a 50% match up to another 2%.

We provide healthcare, dental, and vision with premiums fully covered on the base plan for employees. Half of premiums are covered for dependents.

We offer unlimited PTO and a culture in which the overwhelming majority of employees take more than four weeks. Your manager is also on the hook for encouraging you to do the same.
