This Role
Design and implement an AI-forward product and system for our customers, which includes:
Work on product–help provide an intuitive data model and user experience in a complex space.
Work on scaling problems–ensure our customers get top-notch availability and reliability on a particularly bursty system.
Remain on pace with emerging AI use cases and constantly push the boundaries of what is possible.
Bring product intuition–iterate and obsess over the customer's experience.
Skills & Experience - Core
Bachelors or Masters in computer science or an equivalent field, or equivalent practical experience.
4+ years experience writing Python or similar for production use
Experience working with a Postgres database or similar
Interest or experience in working with a complex AI-driven product, (i.e. streamed outputs, dynamic agentic site navigation, etc)
Interest or experience in working with PDFs, excel, or file-driven products
Skills & Experience - Pluses
Experience writing Postgres and Python specifically
Experience writing APIs, including working with libraries such as FastAPI
Experience dealing with database scaling problems
Experience working with AWS infrastructure or similar
Experience working at an early-stage startup
Excited to work on product and work/iterate with customers

Collaborative Integration: Establish strong collaborative relationships with the team to understand the intricate balance of innovation and regulation.
Initial Contributions: Make meaningful contributions to our existing system, demonstrating an understanding of Norm Ai's unique approach to software development.

Innovative Design Implementation: Successfully implement and deploy significant features that enhances the AI-forward experience for Norm Ai’s clients.
User-Centric Development: Show a deep understanding of customer needs and feedback, translating these insights into tangible improvements in the product.
High Agency Ownership: Begin to own initiatives internally as we drive our product forward.
90 days
Leadership in Innovation: Play a pivotal role in a major product release, seeing the product through from ideation to launch.
Strategic Contribution: Contribute to strategic discussions regarding our system, considering growth, scalability, and overall product experience for our users.
Location
This role is ideally located in the NYC metro area – our office is in WTC 7 downtown.
We are open to remote candidates, if they are based in the U.S. and can make quarterly week-long visits to our NYC office.
Comp & Benefits
The base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$225,000 + generous early employee equity + benefits. The range displayed in this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including job-related skills (as uncovered during the interview process), experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed here reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity or benefits.
