The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. If the role is non-exempt, overtime pay will be provided consistent with applicable laws. In addition to the salary range listed above, total compensation also includes generous equity, performance-related bonus(es) for eligible employees, and the following benefits.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Recruiter to own and scale recruiting for all product management roles at OpenAI. You’ll build the foundation for how we attract, evaluate, and hire world-class PM talent, partnering closely with senior product leaders to shape our hiring strategy and ensure an exceptional candidate experience.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead recruiting for all Product Management roles, from role definition through to offer close.

  • Partner directly with product and executive leaders to deeply understand organizational needs and develop effective, data-driven recruiting strategies.

  • Design and evolve scalable recruiting processes and best practices that raise the bar for speed, quality, and fairness.

  • Drive offer strategy and execution, with a proven ability to close leadership-level and hard-to-hire talent in highly competitive markets.

  • Mentor and develop recruiters and sourcers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Act as a visible ambassador of OpenAI within the broader product management community, building strong external relationships.

  • 12+ years of recruiting experience, with deep expertise in product management, technical, and leadership hiring.

  • Demonstrated success closing senior and executive-level candidates in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders with credibility and confidence.

  • Comfort and effectiveness operating in scrappy, high-velocity, and ambiguous environments, creating structure and clarity amid rapid change.

  • Proven ability to build, scale, and optimize recruiting processes, teams, and systems.
