As the Global Business Insights & Automation Lead, you will combine the analytical depth of a data scientist with the strategic storytelling and executive communication of a management consultant. You will lead a small, high-impact team to design, automate, and operationalize global business insight systems that power OpenAI’s decision-making at scale.
You’ll work closely with Finance leadership, GTM, Product, and Engineering to surface the “why behind the numbers,” automate recurring analytics, and develop frameworks that connect business drivers to company strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role — equally focused on building analytical frameworks, mentoring talent, and shaping executive narratives.
In this role, you will:
Become an expert in OpenAI’s data, systems, and business dynamics across products and regions.
Lead the design and implementation of global KPI frameworks and insight automation systems that serve cross functional partners.
Architect scalable data products — dashboards, variance analyzers, pacing models, and agentic workflows — to deliver proactive insights.
Automate recurring reporting and analysis using OpenAI’s internal tools, surfacing real-time business trends and performance drivers.
Partner with FP&A to connect financial performance with operational and product metrics, improving forecasting accuracy and investment decisions.
Build models and frameworks for segmentation, pricing, and LTV to uncover growth opportunities and efficiency levers.
Translate complex analyses into clear, concise executive narratives — distilling technical detail into actionable insights.
Coach and develop a small, high-performing team of analytics engineer and data scientists, ensuring analytical rigor and stakeholder trust.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have 10+ years of experience in analytics, business insights, or data science — ideally combining experience at McKinsey, Bain, or BCG with hands-on work in a high-growth technology company.
Hold an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Operations Research, etc.).
Are comfortable in SQL and Python, and comfortable building analytical models and automated pipelines.
Have deep experience with BI tools such as Tableau and have built scalable dashboards and metric layers used by executives.
Bring a strong understanding of financial and operational metrics (e.g., revenue, margin, LTV, CAC, WAU/DAU, ARPU) and how they interact across functions.
Excel at executive storytelling — simplifying complexity and influencing decisions with clarity and credibility.
Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and take ownership of problems end-to-end.
Why this role matters
This role sits at the intersection of data, strategy, and automation. You will shape how OpenAI’s leadership measures performance, understands trade-offs, and drives growth — building the systems, models, and narratives that turn data into decisions.
