Mechanical Engineer, Rotary Kiln Coating & Finishing
Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Mechanical Engineer to support pilot projects and commercial scale production operations for our Cathode plant. This engineer will work on the Cathode rotary kilns Coating & Finishing, while owning tooling designs for thermal spray and fabrication processes.
Essential Duties:
- Tooling designs for thermal spray and fabrication processes.
- Robotic programming for thermal spray processes.
- Creation of technical documents. (SWI, SOP, PFD, etc.)
- Coating operation training and support.
Responsibilities Will Include:
- RK Coating and fabrication support.
- Off-hours phone calls for production support may be needed.
- Spare parts and consumable inventory management.
- Continuous improvements projects for safety and cost savings.
- Implementation of ‘5S’.
Desired Qualifications:
- Programming experience
- Machining experience
- FANUC robot programming is a ’plus’.
- Thermal spray experience is a ‘plus’.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Must maintain regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standards.
- Must be able to communicate clearly.
Working Conditions:
- This is a “Hands-on” kind of job working directly with equipment, fabricators, and coating systems.
- Desk work will be minimal.
- Vast majority of the time will be spent working in shop floor and plant environment, working on a variety of topics to support thermal coating a fabrication.
- Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time
- PPE must always be worn - Safety glasses, safety-toe shoes, high-vis clothes.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
