Quality Specialist
The Quality Specialist is responsible for enabling operations and engineering teams to achieve quality objectives. This role is responsible for identifying quality issues across the manufacturing environment, leading investigations and root cause analysis, managing non-conforming material, and coordinating key quality system initiatives. The Quality Specialist will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain rapid response and to drive continuous improvements to the production process. This role is responsible for supporting implementation and development of quality processes across the factory.
Responsibilities Will Include:
- Develop and implement inspection criteria and other quality procedures.
- Perform various inspections, audits, and testing to evaluate product and process performance.
- Drive root cause investigations for finished goods, in-process and incoming quality issues and enabling cross-functional involvement.
- Monitor key quality KPIs and metrics to identify and lead improvements.
- Oversee and develop process and line audit requirements and schedules.
- Collect and analyze product and process data with engineering teams to ensure specifications are well defined and being met.
- Manage the control of non-conforming material, customer feedback and complaints.
- Work closely with document authors and process owners to develop and improve procedures, standards, and work instructions.
- Lead key quality system initiatives related to but not limited to: change management, document control, audits, continuous improvement, calibration, supplier quality, and customer feedback.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years of demonstrated quality, quality systems, or similar experience
- Preferred: Degree in a technical field
- Experience with critical quality tools and quality system elements
- Strong project and work management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with multiple diverse departments to achieve results that align with Quality goals.
- A self-starting mindset with a strong drive to solve complex problems.
- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment without predefined standards
- Preferred: Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17025, IATF16949
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and/or PAPR (powered air purifying respirator).
Working Conditions:
- Working environment can include dry and dusty conditions.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, and hot or cold temperatures.
- Essential physical requirements include standing, walking, typing, and sitting.
- Working hours are shift dependent and can vary.
- May require being on-call or covering weekend shifts as needed.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
