About the Team:

The Relativity Space NDE Engineering Team is dedicated to the integrity of our product while tackling the challenges of our traditional and non-traditional manufacturing methods. We are tasked with developing and executing inspection of a huge variety of materials and components using cutting-edge industry technology and vetting, developing and deploying automation, machine learning and Statistical Process Control solutions to achieve continuous improvement in efficiency and execution. From designing novel in-house systems and processes that adhere to industry standards, to executing challenging technical inspection operations, our team maintains a steadfast commitment to integrity, efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.

About the Role:

Your core responsibilities will be:

  • Lead NDE Certification & Training Programs: Design, implement, and manage milestone-based NDT training and certification schemes across methods such as UT, PT, and ET, including development of E-Learning modules and management of OJT
  • Responsible Level 3 Oversight: Own all aspects of personnel qualification and certification. Maintain and approve NDT procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable customer and regulatory requirements
  • Procedure & Work Instruction Development: Assist with generation, review, and verification of NDT work instructions and procedures to ensure full alignment with industry standards, customer specifications, and applicable codes
  • Ultrasonic Inspection Leadership: Provide assistance and technical review for advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) inspections, including phased array (PAUT) and conventional UT, in both R&D and production settings
  • Internal & Supplier Audits: Develop robust internal audit framework aligned with external customer requirements and perform and/or review supplier assessments to ensure conformance with company and customer NDT specifications, including documentation and process reviews
  • Technical Liaison & Support: Act as the primary NDT point of contact for cross-functional teams, customers, and regulatory bodies
  • Inspection Program Development & Optimization: Drive improvements to NDT systems and procedures, propose and implement new technologies, and support cost/schedule efficiencies through innovation
  • Industry & ISO Standards Compliance: Maintain full NAS-410 program in full compliance with all relevant industry codes, standards, and internal quality management systems and act as NDE lead for all external audits

About You:

  • Hold multiple ASNT Level 3 Certifications to include at least 1 volumetric method (UT or RT) and 1 surface method (MT, PT, VT)
  • 10+ years verifiable experience performing PAUT or other advanced NDE method.
  • 10+ years of experience in NDE Training and Instruction, including development of training material and administrative program ownership.
  • High competence with Industry Standards: ASTM, ASME, AWS, etc...
  • Extensive and verifiable experience analyzing inspection data to specific acceptance criteria.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering work instructions and drawings.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience contributing to system design and qualification efforts for aerospace customers (i.e. Boeing, Nasa, DoD, Space Force, etc…).
  • Experience with qualification of NDE inspection techniques/procedures in one or more volumetric methods
  • Experience with CAD
  • Experience Auditing 3rd Party NDE Vendors
  • Experience with QA/QC and/or Lean Manufacturing concepts and applications

$116,000$148,000 USD
