About the role

At Rippling, Engineering is at the heart of our business and culture. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the design system team which is responsible for building core elements for a seamless user experience and consistent look and feel. We follow a well-defined process for designing, building, and documenting components which are accessible and i18n compatible. You will be primarily responsible for building and scaling multiple areas of design system’s. This is a high ownership, impact, and visibility role that will create a step change in Rippling’s growth and technological evolution.

What you will do

Lead the design systems team based on priority business needs and evolving customer use cases
Attracting, recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining your amazing team which Craft and build internal frontend tooling and libraries to optimize developer efficiency and increase code reliability and performance.
Engage with latest technology and industry UI trends to continually evolve and improve the application experience.
Grow your team's abilities through coaching, mentoring and consistent one-on-one conversations.
Drive technical excellence, operational maturity, innovation and quality processes within your team.

What you will need

At least 8 years of experience in software development and delivery, with in-depth knowledge of software architectures; must have at least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Managers in leading small and mid-sized development teams
A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or experience in a relevant field
Solid programming skills, a track record, and passion for improving the code structure and architecture to enhance testability and maintainability
Team development skills: ability to set a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results
Great project management skills to lead, care about product ownership, an outstanding customer-centric mindset, and solving problems for our customers.
