The Role:

Saturn Trust & Safety is dedicated to creating a platform that is safe for users and true to our values. We’re looking for an outstanding Director of Trust & Safety who is passionate about building effective and scalable processes and products to ensure high schoolers’ safety on the platform. You will be responsible for working closely with our product and engineering teams to ensure safety is front-and-center across the product roadmap; operationalize our content moderation practices, design and oversee escalation plans and law enforcement interactions, and develop critical Trust & Safety partnerships.

In this role, you will collaborate across different departments and provide leadership to ensure there is alignment between teams, regulations, processes, and product. You will be responsible for developing strategic policies that put user safety at the forefront of Saturn. We are looking for someone who cares deeply about our users, building a healthy and supportive community, and a product that positively impacts millions of users.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Policy: Research, build, and communicate policies that impact broad-reaching issues of Trust & Safety, specifically for high-school and college aged users.
  • Operationalize Trust & Safety Measures: Propose and implement solutions to improve safety from a preventive approach. You will identify and implement content moderation tools and support platforms to quickly identify disrespectful or unsafe behavior, ensuring incidents are properly addressed and escalated.
  • Safety Partnerships: Identify and create partnerships with relevant Trust & Safety organizations, including groups supporting online children’s safety, suicide prevention, anti-bullying, and others.
  • Incident Management: Develop escalation paths for working with school administrations and law-enforcement when threats arise on the platform. Interface directly with policymakers to ensure Saturn’s incident management response is thorough and proactive.
  • Communication: Develop communication plans and posts that share our Trust & Safety practices and policies with our core audiences, including students, parents, administrations, policymakers, and law enforcement.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of technology industry expertise in either policy, policy communications, operations, Trust & Safety product, or legal
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in working with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to promote policy innovation and drive timely decisions.
  • A creative problem solver with the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of regulation, product development, content strategy, and community well-being

This role offers a competitive compensation package with an estimated annual salary range of $90,000-$150,000, exclusive of bonuses, commissions, and equity. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors.
