ABOUT THE ROLE
Side is seeking a highly detail-oriented Payments Specialist to join our growing team! In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant flow of funds, from deposits to disbursements, so our agents are paid seamlessly and on time.
You’ll play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and control within our payment operations, supporting reconciliation processes, and ensuring transactions align with real estate and brokerage standards. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of payment systems, and a passion for process improvement.
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, data-driven, and tech-savvy, with a working knowledge of how AI tools and automation can enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability in financial operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Manage communications across email, phone, and Slack to support agents.
- Investigate, triage, and resolve payment discrepancies or escalate when needed.
- Match deposits to transactions and reconcile payments accurately and timely.
- Proactively resolve missing payment statuses, mismatches, or errors.
- Address and resolve issues related to uncashed checks.
- Review and validate agent compensation payments and splits for accuracy.
- Ensure transactions meet Brokerage standards and are fully executed.
- Document and continuously improve procedures, creating “how-to” guides and supporting cross-training initiatives.
- Maintain strong internal controls to protect against payment errors or compliance breaches.
- Leverage data analysis and AI-powered tools to identify process gaps, detect anomalies, and drive automation opportunities.
- Support audits, month-end reconciliation, system implementations and special projects.
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT FOR THE ROLE?
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in payment operations (real estate or fintech experience a plus).
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for data management, pivot tables, and reconciliation automation.
- Experience or working knowledge of AI-driven tools.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to operational excellence.
- Adaptable to change, able to shift priorities to meet business needs.
- Experience with Workday, Zendesk, Modern Treasury, or similar payment and workflow systems is a strong plus.
