Primary Responsibilities:
Design tests, procedures, test articles, fixturing, ground support equipment (GSE), controls, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems tests
Execute tests, record notes and anomalies, collect and analyze data, and write test reports
Test requirements derivation and analysis
Develop tools and processes to improve test engineering workflow & efficiency
Mentor junior test engineers in industry standard test methods and equipment
Must-haves:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or other related discipline and typically 5 or more years of experience
Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Knowledge of requirements management, system design, and systems integration
Experience with planning, conducting and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
Preferred:
Experience with mechanical, structural, and environmental testing of large aerospace assemblies, mechanical systems, mechanisms, and structures
Experience designing tests for pressurized systems, including propulsion, life support, and cooling systems
Experience designing tests for space & atmospheric environments including thermal, thermal vacuum (TVAC), electromagnetic interference (EMI), vibration, shock, acoustic, lightning, etc
Experience developing test equipment, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and servicing equipment for mechanical and pressurized fluid systems
Experience with testing of actuators, motors, and associated controllers
Experience with testing of static and deployable solar arrays
Experience with various testing equipment, instrumentation, standards, and methodologies to include manual and automated testing, especially using National Instruments hardware and LabVIEW software
Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports in order to demonstrate compliance to system requirements
Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and experienced in generation and disposition of product non-conformances
Experience performing certification testing for various certification organizations (i.e. FAA, NASA, DoD)
Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical trouble shooting techniques
Ability to support nights and weekends testing as required
Ability to travel 25-50%
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances
