Sierra Space Careers: Dare to Dream

We honor those that are not afraid to dream big dreams, those that tenaciously chase their dreams even when others say it cannot be done, those that achieve big dreams and change everything. Those are Dreams Worth Chasing.

At Sierra Space we envision a future where humanity lives and works in space, on moons, and on distant planets. Our mission isn’t restricted to the few, instead we see a future where all people can choose to live, work, discover and explore beyond our planet. Our company is building a platform in space to benefit life on Earth and together we will alter the course of humanity.

We have a bold mission. We are a bold company. Together, we are an extraordinary team.

About the Role

Are you ready to help implement the next generation of XRVR technologies in the world’s most innovative space company? Sierra Space presents the most unique challenge in the world; building an entire ecosystem in space to realize the vision of the Orbital age. Our XRVR Developers work with every side of our business. You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge mixed and virtual reality experiences. Internal customers range from AI&T, vehicle and habitat design, to training of an astronaut core. You’ll perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout the development process. Your technical duties will involve the design and development of new experiences to meet a wide array of objectives, at times involving creation of custom feature sets to address gaps in toolkit functionality. You will work with a small-sided team to prove XRVR technology is critical to meeting the Sierra Space mission to benefit life on earth with our innovation in space.

Our Co-op Interns have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study. Bring your knowledge and desire to learn, and we will provide the experience. Co-op’s are full time, 40 hour a week commitments and typically span an entire semester, with the possibility of starting the summer before (Fall Co-op) or extending into the summer after (Spring Co-op). Depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria during your internship, you may be considered for a full-time position upon graduation.

As an intern, you'll ask questions, get involved, bring your ideas, be part of an actual project team, attend planning meetings, complete assignments as tasked by your team, absorb and learn from your team and apply that learning to projects assigned. You'll have the opportunity to learn fundamental business processes and procedures, build your technical foundation through practice and mentorship, and participate in an in-depth program built by our University Recruiting team, that includes cross-functional workshops and meeting with leadership to gain understanding of the business and our culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of VR applications and simulations for aerospace training, visualization, and design review

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop VR solutions that meet project goals

  • Conduct testing and debugging of VR applications to ensure optimal performance and user experience

  • Gather and analyze user feedback to improve VR applications and identify areas for enhancement

  • Support the integration of VR systems with various hardware and software platforms

  • Document development processes, technical specifications, and user guides

  • Participate in design and code reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback
