MICROELECTRONICS SPECIALIST
SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 2.7M+ users worldwide. As we continue to upgrade and expand the constellation, we are looking for talented Microelectronics Specialists who will be responsible for being the front line of production support of satellite and gateway micro-electronic assemblies. The job scope will encompass working on cutting edge electronic assemblies and the process to produce them that will power our next generation satellites and gateways.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute new product introduction builds across all work centers
- Assist with initial Microelectronic line setup, facility requests, and programming of equipment
- Operate in clean room environment
- Program, load, and operate automated equipment such as; die attach, wirebonder, plasma cleaner and AOI.
- Design custom fixtures for Microelectronics to ensure efficient process flow
- Train technicians to run/troubleshoot complex machines
- Triage non-conforming product and drives resolution and preventative actions
- Resolve production issues while ensuring design integrity, product quality, and delivery timelines
- Perform process development and validation on new models in extremely aggressive timelines
- Ensure the successful transition of a product’s development
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities for yield, performance, and cost
- Define maintenance schedules and support activities
- Optimize and configure processes and equipment for building modules that have Microelectronic requirements (bare die attach and wirebond)
- Perform design of experiments (DOE) to optimize yield across die attach and wirebond
- Specify equipment requirements for new Microelectronic build processes
- Develop design for manufacturability (DFM) guidelines for Microelectronic designs
- Resolve production issues on the spot while ensuring design integrity allowing us to stay on schedule
- Facilitate a close relationship with the engineering team during design, build, and test to provide design feedback
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of experience working in SMT or PCBA process engineering
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience producing J-STD-001 Class 2, IPC-A-610 Class 3 or equivalent hardware
- Experience with meeting die attach quality requirements, including coverage, die shear and bond line thickness requirements per Mil-Std-883
- Experience with wire pull machines for wire bond integrity analysis
- Experience operating ball bond machines
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime, and weekends as needed. Estimated shift time; 1st Shift: 6:00AM - 4:30PM
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Microelectronics Specialist/Level 1: $32.00 - $40.00/hour
Microelectronics Specialist/Level 2: $36.00 - $45.00/hour
Microelectronics Specialist/Level 3: $40.00 - $50.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
