About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior Community Marketing Manager to lead Starburst’s global community strategy — bridging the worlds of technical champions and users of Starburst, and deepening engagement with our passionate, existing community. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role for a community builder who thrives at the intersection of developer relations, content creation, and go-to-market impact.

You will be the connector, storyteller, and strategist who can inspire developers, data engineers, and decision-makers alike — both online and in person.

As a Senior Community Marketing Manager at Starburst you will:

  • Develop and implement strategies to scale the Starburst community program, driving awareness, membership growth, a broad range of expertise, and global presence.
  • Foster a vibrant and supportive community environment through effective communication, including regular announcements, best practices, and spotlights.
  • Leverage blogs, videos, social channels, and participation in third-party events to educate, excite, and inspire adoption within Starburst’s community
  • Produce high-quality, developer-focused content for online forums (Reddit, technical blogs, LinkedIn) to strengthen Starburst’s technical voice
  • Relaunch and scale Starburst’s global user group program — from zero to 12+ active groups in the first year, with a roadmap for continued expansion
  • Foster local leaders, support regular meetups around 3rd party industry events
  • Leverage Community Insights for Sales Impact: Identify and surface high-value engagement within the Starburst & Trino community to the sales team
  • Support sales and SDR’s by building campaigns around signals through Common Room
  • Partner with product, marketing, and sales to design campaigns that act on these signals and drive measurable pipeline

Some of the things we look for:

  • Proven experience building and scaling technology or developer communities (open-source experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of the developer mindset and the ability to create engaging, technical, and authentic content.
  • Event program management experience, from intimate meetups to working alongside large-scale conferences
  • Experience with online community platforms (Reddit, Slack, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Common Room or similar community intelligence tools is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills — both written and verbal — and the ability to represent Starburst confidently in public forums.
  • A passion for open-source technologies and a belief in the power of community to drive adoption and advocacy.
  • Ability to Travel: This role will require occasional in-person travel for purposes including but not limited to new hire onboarding, team and department offsites, customer engagements, and other company events. Actual travel expectations may vary by role and business needs.
