About the team

In this role, you’d be joining the taxsquad’s Corporate Income Tax & Reporting team. As technology evolves, so do our tax reporting and compliance obligations, especially with the multitude of US and International tax provisions impacting US multinational corporations. Our tax team completes the global income tax provision, US income tax returns and works with Stripes around the globe to ensure not only that our tax obligations are met but that we assist in inventing products that our users find useful.

What you’ll do

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Income Tax Reporting & Compliance Specialist to support Stripe’s reporting and compliance function. You will assist in preparing the worldwide income tax provision and US domestic tax compliance. You will work for a rapidly growing Company in a fast paced environment, while collaborating with numerous functional teams across our organization. You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to explain tax technical concepts and requirements in a simplified fashion to non-tax people.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the quarterly and annual preparation and review of ASC 740 income tax provision for US and international subsidiaries, including the company’s tax related financial statement disclosures, and documenting uncertain tax positions.
  • Dive deep and support the tax calculations and documentation related to our material tax adjustments.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team on income tax related matters.
  • Assist in forecast modeling with respect to future effective tax rates and cash taxes.
  • Prepare and review documents used to facilitate the management reporting.
  • Support the evolution of the tax reporting function, tax technology tools, and technological enhancements.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of US income tax returns.
  • Participate in special projects as needed including tax attribute studies, analyzing the impact of M&A, partnerships, investments and internal reorganizations from a tax accounting and compliance perspective, and analyzing the impact of potential tax law changes.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant tax experience in a multi-national company or accounting firm (Big 4 preferred).
  • Robust knowledge of Accounting for Income Taxes under ASC 740 and financial statement disclosures relating to taxes with an overall general knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate large datasets to support various income tax calculations and modeling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to research and communicate complex technical tax issues clearly to non-tax team members and work effectively across functional teams.
  • Flexibility to react quickly to changes in tax laws including proposed changes as well as changes in the company’s products and services.
  • Exhibit strong analytical thinking, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent prioritization and organizational skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • An advanced degree or professional qualification in tax, accounting, or law (CPA, JD or Master’s degree).
  • Experience working in a high-growth, rapidly scaling environment.
  • Industry experience at a multinational organization or big 4 experience; working in technology, payments, or financial services space is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, Alteryx experience is a plus.
  • Practical experience with tax provision software such as Oracle TRCS, OneSource Tax Provision, or CorpTax.
  • A willingness to work with a diverse crew of tax professionals who care deeply about Stripe’s tax issues and each other.
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $133,600 - $200,400. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
