Aerospace Engineering – General Application
Oxnard, CA

Swarm Aero is redefining air power, building the largest swarming UAV and most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world. The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogenous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results.

The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, SpaceX, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.

What you'll do

We're seeking multi-talented engineers who thrive in fast-paced, highly technical environments and are excited by the opportunity to shape the future of autonomous defense aviation. This general engineering role allows us to engage with individuals who bring unique, cross-disciplinary experience and can contribute in flexible ways across our programs.

Depending on your background, your work could include:

  • Supporting development and testing of next-gen UAV hardware and avionics
  • Assisting in integration efforts between software and hardware systems
  • Participating in field testing, rapid prototyping, and validation of autonomous systems
  • Contributing to R&D in flight systems, autonomy, propulsion, and payload integration
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with software, mechanical, electrical, and systems teams

What you've done

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Computer, or related Engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience (or exceptional academic/project work)
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, or building complex systems
  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Comfort working in fast-paced startup or R&D environments

What sets you apart

  • Experience with UAVs, autonomous systems, or defense/aerospace hardware
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and take initiative across technical boundaries
  • Familiarity with field test environments and iterative product development
  • Exposure to C2 systems, robotics, or flight software
  • Passion for building systems that make a real-world impact

**Note: Please apply to only one job posting with Swarm Aero. Submitting multiple applications will not increase your chances of being selected and may slow down the review process. If you feel you may be a fit across more than one area, this General Engineering role is the best place to start.

Candidates for this position must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and trustworthy work environment, Swarm Aero conducts a thorough screening of prospective employees. Candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background verification process as a prerequisite for employment.
