Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer at Swarm Aero, you will play a pivotal role in designing, constructing, integrating, and testing components and systems for our long-range aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed engineering models to communicate design intent and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop and maintain part libraries for standard and custom components.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, producible, and meet requirements.
- Conduct design reviews and integrate feedback from cross-functional teams.
- Manage design data and documentation within the Teamcenter PLM system.
- Develop build guidelines and oversee fabrication and integration of mechanical sub-systems.
- Analyze performance, document results, and present findings.
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions during prototyping and production phases.
- Build, test, and fly the designed systems in real-world conditions.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, with emphasis on detailed component design
- Proficiency with CAD software, preferably NX (other acceptable CAD tools: SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Inventor)
- Experience with PLM systems, such as Teamcenter (other acceptable systems: Windchill, ENOVIA, Aras Innovator, PDM Enterprise)
- Demonstrated ability to create complex 3D models and detailed 2D drawings
- Knowledge of GD&T principles and drafting standards
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on design
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the aerospace, defense, or UAV industry
- Familiarity with composite materials and design considerations
- Knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication techniques
- Experience with design for additive manufacturing
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical integration requirements
- Previous work on products through full design lifecycle from concept to production
