Role Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer at Swarm Aero, you will play a pivotal role in designing, constructing, integrating, and testing components and systems for our long-range aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed engineering models to communicate design intent and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop and maintain part libraries for standard and custom components.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, producible, and meet requirements.
• Conduct design reviews and integrate feedback from cross-functional teams.
• Manage design data and documentation within the Teamcenter PLM system.
• Develop build guidelines and oversee fabrication and integration of mechanical sub-systems.
• Analyze performance, document results, and present findings.
• Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions during prototyping and production phases.
• Build, test, and fly the designed systems in real-world conditions.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, with emphasis on detailed component design
• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably NX (other acceptable CAD tools: SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Inventor)
• Experience with PLM systems, such as Teamcenter (other acceptable systems: Windchill, ENOVIA, Aras Innovator, PDM Enterprise)
• Demonstrated ability to create complex 3D models and detailed 2D drawings
• Knowledge of GD&T principles and drafting standards
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on design
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the aerospace, defense, or UAV industry
• Familiarity with composite materials and design considerations
• Knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication techniques
• Experience with design for additive manufacturing
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical integration requirements
• Previous work on products through full design lifecycle from concept to production
