The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, SpaceX, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Design Specialist with exceptional CAD skills to join our dynamic team. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a passion for design and a proven track record in a manufacturing environment.
The Engineering Design Specialist will play a critical role in the design and development of new products and the enhancement of existing products using CAD software. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet all quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar) to create detailed 2D and 3D models of components and assemblies.
- Develop and optimize design solutions that are innovative, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
- Conduct detailed design analyses, including finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), to ensure designs meet performance and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and supply chain, to develop and produce prototypes and final products.
- Lead design reviews and provide technical expertise to ensure design integrity and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and CAD technicians.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in CAD technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, including specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and change management records.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues that arise during manufacturing.
Basic Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in design engineering, with a significant portion spent in volume manufacturing environments such as aerospace, automotive, or similar.
- Expert proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar).
- 12+ yeas of developing manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Extensive experience with FEA, CFD, and other engineering analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus but not required.
- Proven track record of leading design projects from concept through production.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.

Compensation Range:
- $155,000 - $185,000 + Equity
