Swarm Aero is redefining air power, building the largest swarming UAV and most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world. The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogeneous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results.

The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.

As a Modeling, Simulation, and Algorithms Engineer focused on Mission Tactics at Swarm Aero, you will design and simulate tactical behaviors for autonomous swarm aircraft that operate in contested environments. Your work will directly influence how swarms make decisions, adapt, and win. Your work shapes real-world mission outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-fidelity tactical and swarm behavior models, including threat and comms environment modeling.
  • Work closely with mission team and customers to identify & prioritize M&S requirements and mission use cases
  • Translate tactical requirements and performance metrics into autonomy behaviors.
  • Perform simulation and Monte Carlo analysis of mission scenarios
  • Collaborate with teammates to ensure interoperation of simulation & software and modeling accuracy
  • Present tactical insights to mission leads, executives, and external stakeholders (including defense partners).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Math, or related field.
  • 5+ years developing mission-level modeling & simulation in aerospace/defense.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-agent systems, autonomy, or distributed decision-making.
  • Fluency in Python (SciPy/NumPy), and C++ or Rust for performance-critical algorithms.
  • Ability to communicate tactical insights to non-technical stakeholders clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Math, or related field.
  • Military or defense experience in mission planning or tactical analysis.
  • Experience using or integrating tools such as AFSIM, STK, SIMDIS, ROS-Gazebo, AnyLogic, or custom M&S frameworks.
  • Experience modeling EW/EMCON constraints, contested comms, or real-time C2.
