About the Role

The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations of the Lebanese subsidiary part of a large Canadian group. This role requires close collaboration with the group finance team to ensure consistency, transparency, and compliance across group reporting and local requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse geographies and business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of finance professionals, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Create, review, and maintain accurate Profit & Loss (P&L) statements to assess financial performance.
  • Create balance sheet reconciliations and schedules to support numbers reported at month-end and year-end.
  • Handle payroll processing, ensuring timely salary payments and compliance.
  • Manage month-end closing processes, including preparing financial reports.
  • Maintain strong relationships with banks and ensure liquidity management.
  • Ensure compliance with Lebanese tax laws, VAT regulations, and liaise with tax authorities for filings and audits.
  • Prepare, review, and submit all tax returns, including VAT, income tax, and any other applicable taxes.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits while ensuring adherence to Lebanese laws and regulations.
  • Monitor financial health, providing analysis and insights to support business decisions.
  • Manage cash flow, banking transactions, and optimize financial operations for efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all Lebanese financial, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously improve financial processes, controls, and reporting standards.
  • Utilise NetSuite or similar ERP solutions for data management and reporting.
  • Maintain hands-on proficiency in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial insights.
  • Prepare annual budget and update forecast on a quarterly basis in line with group guidelines.
  • Drive internal control improvements and ensure group financial policies are implemented locally where possible.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll, bank reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, cash flow, and compliance.
  • Experience managing multiple entities and liaising with external auditors and tax authorities.
  • Experience in reporting to international stakeholders and working within multinational group structures.
  • Familiarity with IFRS and group reporting processes is desirable
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with high attention to detail and commitment to deadlines.
